The story on this Sunday afternoon, 28th March 2010, at four o'clock in Ramdori village, revealed how the first education began in Napdori village beginning in 1947. The founder of the school was elder Stefen Mofu from Swaroman Ampombukor congregation. Thus, this time, one of his students wants to talk to us about the advantages and the knowledge of his (first) education. YA1: Brother, listen to my story about our grand father, Stefen. He was a deacon and lived in Napdori and he established a small school for us. I was seven years old when I started my (first) school. I studied at the school beginning in 1947. Grandpa Stefen lived in Napdori and became a teacher. He taught us until (we completed our studies). HM: Ah before he became a teacher, he was a deacon, however, he was able to read and write so he taught you to read and write. YA1: I will continue the story, he became a deacon and he taught us until I reached year three in Napdori, then, he sent me to continue my study in Ampombukor. I studied in Ampombukor until (I graduated), then I continued my study in Korido. I went to study at VVS, however, I did not study for long and returned home. We caused a problem, (I did it with) Karolis Marisan, Mr Marisan (the teacher), therefore, Mr Vankempen sent us home. Grandpa taught me how to blow a flute and how to lead a choir and I still remember them until today. I remembered them until I became an adult, got married and had nine children. Then, I became a deacon and a church treasurer in Ramdori. I moved from Napdori to Ramdori and have lived in Ramdori (since then) until now. I was born in 1940. So my age is about seventy years old. That's what I remember about grandpa's teaching. All of my children have become deacons. It was the blessing that grandpa gave me in my earlier ages, not all my children work as civil servants but they all do God's work, only the eldest son, Yusak, who just became a civil servant this year. He will speak later. My real name is Yohanes Aprombis. I was baptised in Swaroman Ampombukor church. My age, I was born on January 1st, 1940. I pray that our God bless you so that you guard this land and teach our people and that when you return to Papua.... HM: They do not forget the Biak language. YA1: They do not forget the Biak language. That's what I wanted to tell you and I would like to finish it here and your son will be speaking later.
