Nurturing skills in the age of artificial intelligence: Personal reflection and examples from language sciences
In this presentation, I discuss the importance of coding/programming skills for the next generation of 21st-century (Indonesian) linguists to solve problems that would be unfeasible to handle by hand. I illustrate this point with my challenge in curating the digital dictionary for Enggano, an endangered language spoken on the Enggano island, Indonesia (from slides 51 onwards). See the flyer and the recording of this talk (in Indonesian).
