Long-Lived Consequences of Rapid Scale-Up? The Case of Free Primary Education in Six Sub-Saharan African Countries

Collecting data from six Sub-Saharan African countries, this study explores the question of whether the impacts of rapid increase in the number of teachers associated with the Free Primary Education (FPE) reform can be felt now, years after the reform, in classrooms in terms of lower student learning outcomes and worse teacher “quality.”
