Norman Sutton was an Oxford student from 1913. He served in the war but returned to Pembroke College in 1919 to complete his studies. In his scrapbook he has a collection of programs from various events that he attended. Interesting, but not surprising, is to note the absence of material from the war years. For example, his collection of charts of the Eights includes lists for the summer races in 1914, 1919, and 1920, the years he was here. In this case, the very lack of material from the war years illustrates one aspect of Oxford at war, namely the fact that many of the students were not here.
