was captivated by the cheerful but nonetheless smart tone of the speaker. He knew how to address an audience, how to move his hands, when to pause for a moment to let the audience ponder the significance of what he had just said. “Following Christ” he said, “is a communal endeavour. But why is it that young people are so reluctant to go to church?” Jesse did not know the answer to this question, which struck him as mostly rhetorical. Surely the man would now use this as an opportunity to chastise young people, Jesse thought. He thought about putting down his phone, but continued watching the video out of boredom. The speaker, a Reformed minister according to the video description, now spoke about his experiences working with young adults, students and recent graduates mostly. He described how in a large city like London, his work challenged him and made him rethink traditional approaches, which Jesse found refreshing.
