a few key words stuck out to Jesse: redemption, forgiveness, and gospel. Upon these words registering in Jesse’s mind, Jesse rewound the video seeking more context and detail regarding each word. Upon a second watch, Jesse began to understand the connection between redemption, forgiveness, and gospel. As Jesse unpacked the video more, quickly scratched out sentences began to form on a piece of paper. One blurb read: “redemption: the act of redeeming” underneath Jesse continued to write two questions: “redemption from what?” and “who needs redemption?” As the video progresses, Jesse continues to write down things that stuck out: “forgiveness from sins”, “gospel: a story of sin, forgiveness, and ultimately redemption”. However, as Jesse began to write these things, more questions arose: “what constitutes sin?”, “what makes this gospel story different from every other story?”, and many more including, one of the most important question, “where can I find answers?” As Jesse’s thoughts continued to rush, attention was drawn back to the video when the speaker mentioned finding out more about all these topics and more in the Bible. Jesse scoffed and thought, “the Bible… I’ve heard of that.” Thinking back to prior experiences surrounding Christians and Bible Studies, Jesse hesitated in the desire to know more about these words that piqued interest just moments prior. Curiosity got the better of Jesse and Jesse found an online Bible and began to seek answers to the questions that flooded Jesse’s mind.
