"Was enamored from the words she had heard" (S50)
Was enamored from the words she had heard. It was the first time she had ever heard of the what this person was calling, 'the good news.' And she thought to herself, it indeed was good. She hadn't heard back from her best friend in a week, who she felt abandoned and betrayed by. She felt burdened by the troubles of life and alone, though she had felt alone even with a best friend, but even moreso now that she had no one left to call her confidant.
Could this Jesus fellow be the friend that she had always wanted? Could He really forgive her of her past, present and future wrongdoings? Would He really never forsake her like people had done to her so many times in her life? She didn't know for sure, but she thought she would at least try and put her trust in this Jesus.
The person on the screen had said if you confess out loud that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that Jesus raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. He then invited the watcher to pray to God to reveal Himself to them, and then the video ended.
She sat there in the dark of her room, her phone screen dimly lit in front of her on the floor. Then it dimmed to black. She was alone now with only her thoughts and this new found information. She thought to herself, there's no harm in trying. Even if it felt silly. Lots of new experiences had felt silly at first, she gathered. So she said out loud, "Jesus I want to know you, please reveal yourself to me, I have heard you are someone that cares about me, even though no one else has seemed to in my life. I believe that you are Lord and that you died for me and rose from the grave. I want to know you for real..." she paused, "please." she then whispered.
At that moment she felt an unexplainable rush of love in her soul, like someone just told her that she is precious, cared about, known, except with no words said.
She began to weep with her head to the floor hugging herself, and then as she sat back up, she beamed a smile. A smile of joy she had never exhibited in her whole life up until now. Then she felt a peace upon her heart, one that surpasses understanding, yet there it was, caressing her.
Without a doubt, she knew that this Jesus whom she heard about, was who He was said to be. She knew now that, she would never truly be alone, that she had someone who would be by her, someone this time, who would stay.
