"The Limits of Accounting-Based Accountability in Education (and Far Beyond)"

This article summarises researchers' findings and introduces typology of accounts-based vs. accounting-based accountability, by stating that, in order to support good teaching, most current accountability deficits need to be embedded in purpose-driven, accounts-based accountability relationships that emphasize professional autonomy of teachers while also acknowledging a clear vision on the purpose and goal of education systems (which includes learning).
