"She leaned closer to the screen, trying to take active attention" (S59)
She leaned closer to the screen, trying to take active attention to every sentence spoken. Something had really changed inside her about this. Whilst the speaker was speaking on for the rest of the speech, she kept coming back to this statement that they had said ‘all actions are according to their intentions’.
This was one of the first of the fourty hadith’s, or narrations of the prophet (PBUH) that Muslims of all ages are instructed with. For Jesse, this thought really put her in a state where she could step back from all the different priorities she had, some overlapping and competing, and really consider what she was really here for – at this point in time, at this point in here life.
She was also drawn by the eloquence and calmness of the speaker too, a great orator who had gone onto related topics of real-life examples of people acting on this hadith. Jesse had a eureka moment here; instead of seeing this piling up around her life, she now wanted to take a firm grip on how she could first easily work around her piling tasks, and most importantly, to be present in whatever it is she does so she could appreciate it more.
