Mesmorised, she followed the individual, spending hours upon hours scrolling through each of their videos. It was as if their soul had been captured in a butterfly net, Jesse's whole energy directed towards the words that she was being subsumed into. Yes, this was their new purpose, their new reason to open their eyes in the morning, to hold on to the future cast by this person, who had given them a way through. The days she worried about getting through, were now the distraction from her true cause, but they, the butterfly, held fast to the words, as they held onto her. Jesse was hesitant at first about sharing her findings, but the individual told her not to be selfish, not to be cold, so she spread the message, and others followed her videos. Some followed as avidly as Jesse, others thought the person to be a fake, a crook, and simply moved on to the next video on their phone, their mind searching for their own version of Jesse's saviour, whose words would touch them. Jesse went to each event held by the individual, each talk, read each book they wrote. If their faith wavered toward their message, Jesse would not acknowledge it, for it was all she had. Young and lost, she had to keep moving forward, by holding on to what she had.
