Father was an RAF pilot, flying Halifax bombers with 158 Squadron. He lost many friends who were still in their twenties. His name was Arthur George Salter, known as Pop Salter and he was the Squadron Leader.

Pop Salter was twenty years old when he took charge of a new aircraft - Handley Page Halifax Mark III bomber that unusually took on the title of Friday the 13th. See Item No. 22 for a press article on the aircraft. His luck never ran out.
