Despite the fact that it was completely Jesse’s own fault he is behind schedule, and utterly overwhelmed by the weight of responsibilities in the days ahead, this individual felt counter-culturally sympathetic, whose words spoke with deep tenderness into Jesse’s heart as he kept watching. Dressed in a bright red sweater and a pair of khaki trousers, there was nothing too particular in the way he looked. His countenance was grasped by a deep plainness, a simplicity which was tinged with hidden wisdom. There was, in fact, a deep soulfulness about it that seems to penetrate into the hardest of hearts. His face, which was weathered by years of experience, shone with a childlike warmth that cut straight into Jesse as he kept watching. The old man spoke with a calmness that felt uncharacteristic of the modern age – a kind of ‘paced’ composure that would make anxious souls hasten through the video in two times’ speed – which was mellowed in a rich Pennsylvanian accent that was distinct and articulate. Each word was carried out by a careful deliberation: a seriousness which was solemn and light at the same time. It was as though his two selves – the child and the weathered man – existed harmoniously with each other in a peculiar posture towards life: a heart which is simultaneously easily delighted by the simplest joys of life and convicted by the profoundest challenges of humanity.

Jesse watched on. His eyes began to feel blurry, as streams of warmth trickled down his face. Something was stirring within. Something that was hidden in the depths of depths, and was long forgotten was being awakened again at the sounds of Mr. X’s voice. Something that was dead inside was slowly coming to life, a life which Jesse had never experienced before, but somewhere — deep within his heart – he knew that he had always longed for.
