Henry Court, born in 1907, was a gunner in the 8th Army during World War II. He served in the desert in North Africa and later in Italy. He sent a letter home from Italy to his wife and daughter Ann, containing greetings and some pictures. He had to declare that the letter only related to 'private and family matters'. Ann and her mother were living in London and had been evacuated. Henry did not know their new address, so he had to send it to another family member (Miss Stevens).
