online resource

The contributor's father, John Fraser Elder, was in the RAF, based in Egypt. John had been based in Kasfereet camp. The contributor noted that John was into cycling before the war and a lot of the objects the contributor has brought in relate to cycle races. The contributor noted that people/servicemen would come from bases all over Africa to compete in races. "All the camps must have had a cycling club."

John was part of the Buckshee Wheelers Cycling Club, which was formed by British servicemen, who met up once a year up until the 1990s.
