In 1939, the contributor's father (unnamed) was born. The contributor's grandfather, William Rafferty, served from 1940 until the end of the war. The contributor noted that when his grandfather, William, returned home his father did not know who he was. "Who was the strange man in mother's bed", the contributor said his father must have thought.
