William Watt's Photos from Burma

online resource
posted on 2024-06-05, 20:04 authored by Their Finest Hour Project Team

Margaret Munro's father, William Watt, was a housepainter and decorator. He was in the Royal Artillery, stationed in Burma from 1942-1946. Margaret gained a lot of information from war records in the Royal Artillery in Woolwich. There were mileposts all the way to Rangoon, Burma. She was able to trace her father's journey to Rangoon, matching the fight to the milestones in the records.

Margaret noted that her father didn't talk about what happened during the war (the information she knows came from her mother), and he wasn't the same man when he came back.
