White-metal ?chatelaine

Remains of a silver toilet set on silver chatelaine. The surviving items comprise:1. Silver ear-pick or cosmetic spoon, length 6cm. It has a pierced suspension lug at right angles to plane of shank; below this a round-sectioned piece of shaft, then a hammered out flat length with decoration of punched or traced S spirals making a pseudo interlace. Then hammered out bowl, quite deep.2 & 3. Pair of instruments with spear-shaped points, length 6cm. Pierced lugs at right angles to plane of spears; round shafts with 4 grooves at junction with flattened tapering triangular points. Rather worn.4. Four silver links, of stout wire with tapered ends, bent into suspension hooks and free ends brought around the shanks in tight spirals. Each appears to have been linked to the next by small rings. Length of links about 2.5cm.Originally there were three other instruments: broken in excavation, all strung by their suspension lugs on a slender silver wire; this in its turn suspended on a double chain consisting of 2 links aside, this in its turn suspended from the ring of a 5th link a little longer but of same kind, and from the 'rust' of it depended a broken silver pin. Other fragmentary links of same kind.
