Wartime letters from mother to daughter
These letters are from the contributor's grandmother, Kate Hammond, to their mother, Gladys White. The contributor had not been born yet. The letters are not dated but are obvious from context. For instance, the day that children from Gosport were evacuated was perhaps 1941. Kate lived close to the train station.
Kate stayed in Gosport. Gladys moved around with her father, who was in the RAF. They moved frequently to various places until he was eventually posted to India (he was there around 1943-1946). After this, Kate and the contributor's sister came back to Gosport.
The contributor transcribed the letters herself as they are written in pencil. One letter also includes a part by their grandfather (who was not in the army due to his flat feet).
