TRANSLATION
The doll was knitted around 1942 for a small girl named Anita Huws who was about 5 years old at the time and lived at Wesle Street, Amlwch, Anglesey.

Her father (William Huws) was in the army and fighting the Germans at Monte Cassino in Italy at that time. Little Anita was very sad and missed her father. A neighbour in the street decided to knit the doll for her to raise her spirits.

The doll was created using wool that was used to knit socks etc for the soldiers. The doll was kept very safely by Anita's family for many years.

By now Anita is 85 years old and is an aunt to Nansi. Nansi was given the doll fro her aunt as she was doing work about the Second World War in Amlwch Primary School.
