WW2 Photos and Stories of my Great-Grandparents

online resource

My great-grandma, Jean, was a Land Girl, which means she worked on a farm to make sure her local village had a good supply of food. She would work in all conditions and used to tell stories of huge blizzards in the winter. To get through the winter, in the summer she would spend lots of time making jams and pickling vegetables. In the winter she would help look after the animals and would even slaughter them for meat. My great-grandma died when I was little but I do have memories of her.

My great-granddad, Bill, was deployed to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia during the war. He never talked about his role there so little is known about his role in the war. Sadly he died before I was born.
