Dad, Vaughan House Barrington, was born in 1919 in Taunton, Somerset. He joined the army and was stationed in Burma, fighting behind enemy lines with The Chindits. He didn't talk about the war, but I believe that his best friend was killed. He came back from Burma with various bits and pieces, including silk maps and a SEAC souvenir newspaper.

He attended the 50th anniversary dinner of The Chindits and collected annual journals relating to the campaign in Burma. In 1982, he applied to receive his medals, which included the Burma Star.
