Gatty Slip: Four spindle whorls in baked clay, one side rather cone shaped; Anglo-Saxon?Clay spindle whorl, diam. 4.2cm. One face slightly rounded, the other markedly conical. Perforation 7mm diam. Made of very fine clay with few grits, creamy coloured, but grey on exterior. Fabric resembles that of other whorls from Kingston etc. L. 2.9cm.No details, but probably A.S. and from Faussett cemeteries.Gatty slip indicates 4 spindle whorls for M 7812. SCH assumes the spindle whorl she describes is probably part of the Faussett collection. – D.H.
