Two copper-alloy chatelaine pendants

Both Gatty Slips: Small brass instrument, found at Gilton Town, Kent. Labelled \Ash 1762\". Formerly in the Faussett coll. Vide Inven. Sep. pl. 12 fig 6 [image]"M 6027: Bronze chatelaine pendant, length 3.5cm. At top a pierced roundel, with its original ring now missing, set at right-angles to plane of base. Round sectioned shaft terminating in triple grooves, below which is spread and flattened; terminates in double-sided hammered with domed top.M 6028: The mate of the above, but with attachment loop and ring both missing.The Gatty Slip reference to Faussett 1856 pl. 12.6 is probably incorrect, or it is likely that these pendants are similar to those found in the illustration. The label \Ash 1762\" may also be incorrect as no graves excavated that year (graves 50-71) produced copper-alloy chatelaine pendants. Those graves that did produce pendants were: 27 or 41 (excavated in 1760) and 76 81 or 87 (excavated in 1763). – D.H. & B.B."
