2. Log book 1: 40 - 44. Log book 2: 44-52
3. Retired approximately 1960. Range of aircraft flown: single engine fighters during the war (Career outline can be found in publication 'Those Other Eagles' - Christopher Shores).
4. Letter from individual he shot down and response by Mr Willmott. Letter from the German pilot shot down. The individual researched and found Mr Willmott. The Ministry of Defence sent the letter and the individual asked to meet more informally. Mr Willmott responded and was pleased to hear that the pilot was OK. Mr Willmott and his wife decided that it would not be wise to meet (more his wife that felt they should not meet).
5. Collection of photographs. Taken from a variety of places, one of which includes a desert. We know that he spent some time in Malta. He enlisted May 1940. First flight in September 1940, a training flight.
6. Frame including letter/citation received when received medals including the DFM, the Distinguished Flying Medal, a commendation for shooting down enemy aircraft. Thomas Willmott told his grandson the story of shooting down enemy aircraft.
