They met because of Hitler

online resource

My mother served as an ambulance driver for the Red Cross and was based in England from about 1943 to 1945. My father served in the artillery in the Canadian Army and fought in Italy from about 1943 to 1945. They were both Canadians but grew up thousands of kilometres apart in Canada and would never have met if they hadn't volunteered to serve in World War Two. They actually met when my father attended one of the 'Active Service Canteen' socials in London at which my mother was volunteering.
