The Tale of Father and Son Lost to War

<p dir="ltr">My grandfather, Thomas, was a Royal Marine who died on his 40th birthday in 1914, leaving behind a widow and four sons. One of those sons, my uncle Jim, died at El Alamein, leaving a widow and two young children. His mother (my grandmother) was already dying and was not informed of the news. A wife and mother so affected by war!</p>
