This course takes an in-depth look at the legal practice and ethical issues that arise in the portrayal of lawyers in movies and television. After an initial review of basic rules of the law governing the conduct of lawyers, students will critically examine the portrayal of lawyers in selected movies or television programs. Students will prepare class presentations and lead class discussions on particular movies or television programs, critically analyzing the lawyers' practice skills and conformity to ethical rules. Students also will prepare a final paper that analyzes, as fully as possible, the issues that are identified. This course may be offered every other year.
