Thomas William Dunn was in the Royal Artillery. He served in AA Defense of London during the blitz in 1940. The contributor was born in May 1940 but met him only when he returned in 1945 after the war was over. He grew up in the tenements on Birkett Street, which were bombed by Luftwaffe during the blitz in Liverpool. There was a massive hole in the landing of the tenements for the rest of the war. His older siblings were evacuated from the city, but he and his sister remained there. His father served in Burma. His uncle, an Irish man, was in Arnhem and he got killed in the war.
