Alexander MacPherson was in the 8th Army in North Africa in the Royal Army Service Corp. He served in Torato (?) Italy with the 8th Army and was demobbed (?) in July 1946. He passed his driving test on 25/5/1940 just after Dunkirk. He was a driver from March 1942 in North Africa.

John MacPherson was known as "big jock" as he was six feet tall and 18 stone! He joined the filters’ role (?) in the Army Reserve (RE) at the age of 35 years on 29 July 1941. He was in Trieste in July 1945.
