The father of contributor, Michael James Lester volunteered for the Tank Regiment in 1942.Jim wrote his autobiography, including his landing in France. He was moved to various regiments. He was in Germany 1945, including VE Day, and Jim met Monty (Field Marshall Montgomery).By VJ Day Jim was still in BAOR (British Army of the Rhine) in North Germany.
