Stanley Maurice Garside was born in 1914. He was given five medals, including Defence Medal, War Medal 1939-45 and Africa Star. He was in the Royal Artillery. He was a surveyor by profession. He was in Italy and North Africa. He did not talk about it, so the contributor does not know the specifics of his story. The contributor's mother was born in 1918. She was at home with her family during the war. She had cousins who were land girls based in Birmingham. Neither parent was able to talk about the war.
