online resource

Large tumulus, namely, full four feet high; the grave about five feet deep. Here were several skeletons (at least four), lying on one another; all of them very much decayed, and some of the bones intermixed; none of them, except the undermost, appeared to have had any coffin, and that had visibly passed the fire. Nothing. These skeletons all pointed to the east.
