Sibertswold Downs Grave 124

Middle-sized tumulus; grave three feet deep. The coffin appeared to have been thick, and to have passed the fire; the bones, were almost gone. Near the neck were two small beads; and a silver pendant or ornament for the neck [M 6499]. An anchor-like iron instrument, exactly like that described at No. 103; this was found about the knees; as were also several links of a small chain, rusted together, as before; and several broken pieces of iron: all these had cloth adhering to them; and the blades of two knives. Here was also part of an ivory comb; this lay at the feet. A woman's grave.
