Private Dennis Freeman served in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment from 1944 to 1948. His battalion was part of the 8th Army which served in North Africa and the Middle East.
He was recalled from duty in the Middle East on compassionate grounds as his mother was dying from an incurable disease in Warnford Hospital in Leamington Spa. He was transferred to home duties at the Royal Warwickshire Regiment depot.
