online resource

The contributor shared that the scrapbooks she had brought for digitisation had been made by her mother, Gwyneth Atwood, for her husband, Cecil Atwood, who was based in North Africa during the Second World War. Cecil was living in Sandhurst when he was commissioned to join Army in 1939, and he rose to the rank of Major as a tank commander. After being demobilised, Cecil returned to London to look after tanks. The contributor noted that her mother worked in hospitals during the Second World War. The contributor highlighted that neither of her parents enjoyed speaking about the war because they did not want to recall their memories from war.
