This paper examines the relationship between students' performance and the structure and functioning of School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs) in Nigerian public primary schools. Surveying various stakeholders, including head teachers, teachers, pupils, and households, the study analyzes the impact of SBMC factors such as parents' membership, gender composition, and decision-making processes on student test scores. The findings indicate a positive correlation between student performance and the presence of women in SBMCs, but do not establish a clear link between democratic functioning of SBMCs and test scores.
