Gold pendant, length with loop 3.25cm. A die stamped disc of sheet gold with beaded gold wire rim soldered around top of edge, and a corrugated loop (back plain), rolled, soldered to edge below wire at front, and extending down back into V-shaped tongue. Inside loop wire does not quite meet; and at left side just before loop ceases to be beaded. Decoration, a plain equal-armed cross with flat disc at centre decorated with dots punched from font, a ring of them around single one at centre. In angles between arms are nearly identical panels of interlace work, consisting each of 2 serpents with open and confronted jaws and bodies interlinked with each other so tails are under own chin. The pendant was damaged in antiquity, and mended with a patch at back on right side. Repoussé patter to resemble a beaded border inside actual wire. The loop shows no wear and the wire ring is very fresh, though the front of the pendant itself does look abraded. Might be re-mounted? Wire might be different metal.Weight 3.074 gmDensity gm/cc 13.1Surface analysis: AuAgCuFace60364Beading/Loop58392
