I took my father-in-law to the D-Day beaches fifty years later. He had landed six days after D-Day, and as we walked along the beach, I recorded his memories. We went inland and he described the area where he had encamped and pointed out a hole in the wall. Beyond it, he had witnessed a German plane crash-landing and had seen the pilot in flames. Nearby that had a cook kitchen. The hole was still there after fifty years, and many more memories were recorded. I made the tape with added sound effects. Sadly, I do not now have a tape recorder to replay it and to listen to it.
