Jack enlisted on 10th June 1929.
He sailed for East Africa from Liverpool on 27th October 1938, returning home on 13th July 1945.
He fought the Italians in East Africa, the Vichy French in Madagascar and the Japanese in Burma.
He was Mentioned in Despatches for an act of bravery in the Madagascar Campaign.
He was bayoneted through the jaw in Burma.
