Plane Missing in Action in 1943

Herbert was in the RAF as a volunteer as a Lancaster Gunner. He joined in 1942 and was posted to RAF Skellingthorpe in 1943. Herbert and his crew flew 27 missions together and on the 28th mission, his plane failed to return from Turin on 12th July 1943. Herbert never got to meet his daughter who was born just after he went missing.

Grandson has brought in a photo of the crew and plane that went missing. 8 men went missing and were never located.
