His father, who was a pilot escorting the Arctic convoys, would talk of the war and how he had fond memories of the companionship. After the war, he kept in contact with his crew, and he was the last to die.
He remained enthusiastic about aeroplanes and would take his children to the Leuchars Airshow.
His letters are a good representation of the humour of the time.
