Personal papers of Staff Sergeant John Wheeldon

I inherited the personal papers of my grandfather - these include medical certificates at conscription and at release from the army. Also references for jobs after the war.

Medals include the Defence medal, Battle of Britain Star, etc.

On his service he was in Dresden just after the bombing and liberation. In Hanover he worked at the desk of an SS Officer and kept an original copy of Mein Kampf and a badge of the officer. He kept copies of instructions issued by Eisenhower and Montgomery for the Allied Forces in 1944-45.

There is a personal account of conditions in Brussels and a record of his service notes and thoughts of his time there.
