Hugh Griffith - born in Nefyn.

Part of a shell. Percussion fuse dated 1942. I inherited it from my father who served in the Navy during WW2.

No 26 H3

He had 2 ferrets and named them after ships he sailed on. He hated water and could not swim. He was terrified of being on lookout duty and climbing up the rigging. In 1943 he poured petrol on his leg to cause a skin problem in order to get medically discharged. He would happily have served in the army or raf but not the navy.

Grandmother had no idea what this item was but kept it highly polished on display.
