There are a number of penpal letters written to my then teenage mother from various Canadian, British and American airmen based overseas at the time. I also have a typewritten account of my mother's experiences as an evacuee.

The letters provide an interesting insight into the airmen's lives overseas during WWII, especially those stationed in India and the Far East.

My mother used to go into schools and read them her account of being an evacuee, in her case quite a happy one.
