Parts of a white-metal gilt sword grip and scabbard mouthpiece

Silver-gilt sword pommel, length 4cm, still attached to top of iron tang and base plate of upper guard. Pommel rather high with indented curved ends. Parcel gilt. Broad front and back faces plain silver, but chased, tooled and gilded grooves along lower edge. Gilded vertical grooves near ends. Top corroded and no decoration visible. Narrow ends gilded, but raised tongue plain silver with nielloed triangles and runic symbols - single row triangles around edges, double row at base. At one end of pommel were 3 rivets in special seatings, at other only two with space between for missing ring-attachment. Slight marking on runic symbol where ring has rubbed. Upper plate of guard missing, and pommel can be seen hollow, with sort of iron(?) washer to secure tang. Lower plate usual dished type, length 6cm, with 3 rivet-holes, large at ends and two smaller ones where rivets held two plates and pommel together. Impress of handle 2.8 x 1.6 cm. One domed rivet head fromt his guard survives separately.Scabbard mouthpiece, silver-gilt, length 5.5cm, max. width 9mm internally; 2.3cm deep. Broken in many pieces. Made of thick cast (?) metal, and decorated with recessed gilded grooves and 6 bands with nielloed triangles in single or double lines. At front or back centre is a broken loop for a string. Pommel corroded badly, but not much sign of wear.Sandpit whence Faussett and Rolfe had previously taken specimens.
