Mundane things like reading matter (other than propaganda) are too easily forgotten; this is probably a rare item to survive.

History

Item list and details

The book is an Armed Forces Edition of "Prodigal Genius - the life of Nikola Tesla, by John J O'Neill." It was the book was published by the (US) Council on Books in Wartime. The paperback book is distinctive because it is bound down the short side to allow it to be tucked into a tunic pocket. This book is one of a small batch that I have kept that demonstrates that the boys and girls from North America had well-read members amongst their number, and that the overseas allies had an organisation to cater for their needs. The book has 383 pages.
