I am attaching a document based on my first 30 years in Woking. My grandfather raised in India was John Arthur Hale, architect to Lord Iveagh. My stepgrandfather was a Cockney who lived in Carshalton, Percival Miller. My mother, Pamela Hale, was Woking's "Music Lady" who played the piano at senior centres and at Brookwood Hospital for many years, after being in ENSA. She married Dennis Alfred Cave Miller in 1954 when I was 6. It was the current war in the Middle East that prompted me to write this piece a few days ago.
