online resource

My great grandad, Raymond Fredrick Petts, was born on the 25th May 1922 in Lewisham, Greater London. In WW2 he was a Wellington Bomber pilot in the RAF. He flew in many missions including night missions over the North Sea bombing boats from the German Navy. The RAF then loaned him to the RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) to train their pilots.

Whilst in Canada he was in 415 Squadron. He met my great grandma, Beryl Frances Bradbury, during the war when he was based at Heaton Park, and they got married 20th March 1944. My great grandma was in the WRNS (Women's Royal Naval Service).

My great grandad went on to be a teacher then the headteacher of Bury Church of England High School. He died on the 4th February 1990.
