Muriel in the Land Army

online resource
posted on 2024-06-05, 19:27 authored by Their Finest Hour Project Team

My aunt Muriel Levi was in the Land Army. She loved the experience and was very proud of it, referring to it often. We think it was a chance to move away from home and achieve independence. The experience was tough and they had to work hard. Living conditions were also difficult for someone coming from the city. Her original posting in Dorset had no hot water but then she went to work on a farm belonging to a Wing Commander, finally ending up quite locally to The Lee at Great Gaddesdon.
