- Elwyn's father was a local clergyman during WWII.
- His father was on patrol with a farmer when he heard whispers in the night. They panicked, believing it to be German spies, but instead, it was a courting couple.
- He was taken to an RAF base and given training in how to identify Allied and Axis pilots.
- His first cousin was shot down as an RAF pilot, and unfortunately, his name was misspelled on the memorial.
- He remembers the Government asking people to deactivate their cars in case of invasion so that German troops could not use them to travel.
- He remembers that everyone was issued a gas mask.
- He mentions that his cousin actually brought home a German SS helmet, while another cousin was in the SAS in North Africa and Italy.
- Another relative was wounded at Dunkirk, illustrating how the war affected the whole family.
